Scott County Park Road Race - Act I Cody Race Series

Scott Co Park is truly a great venue for early season racing, with
new pavement, a new Lodge, and new heated restrooms there isn't much
more we can do to accommodate our racers. And race they did with a
field of 52 including many new faces.
The 4 lap course proved to be
just as tough as expected with each lap taking its toll on the leading
pack. By the time the leadpack of 20 hit the climb on the second lap
they began to split into two group, with other riders strung out all
over the course.
Pete Sharis obviously wasn't happy being shelled
off the back of the lead pack as he bridged back up during the second
lap and took a turn at lead for a part of lap 3. With 11 riders left
in the lead pack the last lap was a question on who would sacrifice
themselves by leading the last and final lap. John Meehan took the
lead out as the pack came of the last hill and headed up to the
finish line. Five battled for the lead with Lee Venteicher and Sean
Walker taking top spots with John Olney, Paul Deninger and Tracy
Tompson right on their tails.
Bryan Moritz and Pete Sharis turned in
fine performances finishing in the TOP 10. They are both certain to
challenge for overall winner in future events with those kind of
performances.
The second pack was only a few seconds behind the
leaders and Bruce Grell showed some pre season confidence by charging
up the finishing hill to lead in the second pack followed by novice
rider Joe Mann... Joe - Get a License and get in the game!!!
It was great to see everyone out testing their fitness on this last
weekend of winter. We'd like to again thank them all for coming and
offer thanks to our Sponsors, Supporters, and Volunteers.

along side Dice Cycling with added support from Scott County
Conservation Commission who provided a wonderful venue. Healthy
Habits who provided gift cards for our winners. The Coffee Hound
who provided hot coffee for our racers and volunteers.

to Kat Greer and Jannette Harrington who handled registration, Terry
Burke and Casey Zugmaier who marshalled turns, and Mike Guidici and
his son who came out Saturday and cleaned the course and lastly our
