Minnesota College Race Weekend

Saturday morning was the road race. I had a 52 mile race that was 6 laps on this fairly hilly course and it even had 2 miles of gravel on each lap so that was definitely interesting.
The entire race, I did jack-squat haha. I just sat in the pack and tried my best to stick with the lead group (that was my goal because down in Kansas a couple weeks ago I couldn't do it). However, i did attack once, but that was just to go after Noonan how was taking off...sorry noonan, it wasn't my intention to drag the field with me. I was trying to bridge up to you to see if we could get a break to go but nope.
Coming up to the finish (The finish was a wicked up hill), I was wanting to stick to either Noonan, Boyce, or Lemieux's wheels (Lemieux is on the Bianchi Grand Performance team so I figured he would be a good wheel to suck). Half way up the hill I was sitting on Lemieux's wheel and was thinking this would be the best bet, but he literally faded out of no where, and so i was boxed in and had to work my way around but somehow finished 5th overall so i was really happy about that.
Then we did the team time trial. We were pretty tired from the road races, so we didn't do too well in that, but oh well, it was fun.
Saturday night we stayed at Kari's house (well, not HER house...she's house sitting for the year for some family that is gone...NICE house...LUCKY)
Sunday morning was the crit races in some industrial park in Minnetonka...I think it was called Opus. Apparently they have tuesday night races there every week.
The course was really cool...a long downhill sweeper, and then a long but not too steep until the end for a finish sprint hill.
Right off the whistle, Noonan and Boyce took off like they were in a cyclocross race so i quickly jumped in. Somewhere in the first few miles, Boyce took off with a KU guy, and I quickly bridged up to them and we started working, but once the first prime sprint came around, KU decided to sprint for it, and ruin our chances of a break sticking.
That happened a few more times with me and boyce always in it with that dang KU guy...I guess boyce yelled at him about it later on :)
Then around 6 laps to the finish, boyce took off solo, and no one attacked after him right away so i just sat in. Then a K-State guy and a minnesota guy took off after him but i found myself in the back of the pack and tried to bridge up to them but no good...i just sat up and waited for the pack.
As my luck would have it, the ONE break that i did NOT get into was the break that STUCK...ugh, i was kinda mad about that, but oh well...that's how racing goes.
Coming up to the line for the sprint, i was in HORRIBLE positioning like always for sprints, and so i decided my best choice would be to attack early and try to break it up the hill...but once I did, the front started going, and I just tried to hold their wheels (which i didn't do too well) and was beaten at the line by Tommy (a nebraska guy who kinda scares me in races because he likes to swerve around quite a bit and not work at all). Oh well, i had a good time and felt that I worked the race pretty well with the breaks that I did get into.
Next weekend is the Nebraska College races over in Lincoln...same races as the Lincoln-Plating series so should be a fun course.
I feel really good today and the weather is AWESOME and i really wanna ride, but nooooooooooo i should just ride easy today :(
