About you: I have a college degree. I've been a commercial pilot. I have a hot wife. Healthy kids. Good job. Big house. I own Rustic Ridge golf course. And I ride a mean bike. All of it pales compared to this nugget of wisdom - The penalty for all sin was paid. Getting to heaven is just a matter of giving your share of them to Jesus Christ. Believing in Jesus is both the easiest and the hardest thing I've ever done.
Racing career highlights:
1968 - I ruled my neighborhood on a big, iron Schwinn.
1986 - I won the Citigames time trial in Denver.
1988 through 2001 - I watched the Quad City Criterium with drinking buddies, thinking "I am too old for that."
2005 - Won the Men's CAT 5 at the Quad City Criterium.
2006 - Won the Men's Cat 5 at the Hummer Hammer.
Other interests: Kayaking, windsurfing and golfing
Top race related goals: No goals. I ride like the wind when I don't take it too seriously.
Best bike trip: I rode for three days to northern Wisconsin with the clothes on my back and barely more than a wallet.
First bike: 1965. It was a convertible. The top tube could be rotated down to make it a girl's bike. My parents did not count on me wearing the silly thing out before I could pass it down to my sister.
Favorite pre race food: Granola bars and Gatorade.
Favorite post race food: Fried shrimp and a Heineken.
Favorite movie: Ground Hog Day
Favorite books: The Gospel of John, Ecclesiastes, Colossians, Genesis, Job...
